We ate at the Cheesecake Factory for lunch today. It reminded me why I prefer small independently owned specialty restaurants to large chain ones–the people are genuinely nice, it’s usually cheaper, and the food is much better (authentic). Give me a shabby looking Vietnamese restaurant any day over stuff like Chili’s (blah), Applebee’s (barf), or

ESCOLAR!

The snake mackerel I had today at Room39 was amazing! It was served grilled over shaved fennel, arugula, toasted pecans and orange segments and tossed in a citrus/tarragon vinaigrette. I added a side of sautéed swiss chard which put the meal right over the edge…thankfully it’s affordable enough we can keep going back for more.

I hate summer

I alternate between despising the heat and the cold. Right now, it’s the heat. I don’t have anything to say, it’s just been so long since I created an entry that I thought I should. Let’s see…all the normal stuff…** 1. Sushi sounds like a fantastic dinner idea. 2. I’m bored out of my skull.
